Concord JV baseball defeated the Jackson HIgh School freshman 5-0 on Wednesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Bobby Ward induced a groundout to finish off the game. Concord got things moving in the first inning. Ward's sac fly scored one. Ross Weeks was credited with the victory for Concord. He allowed two hits and zero runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking zero. Ward threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen. Nolan Korman went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Concord in hits. Concord didn't commit a single error in the field. TJ Figeuroa-Colon had the most chances in the field with nine.

In game one A walk-off single propelled Concord Yellow Jackets Varsity baseball to a decisive, dramatic victory over Union City, 2-1. The game was tied at one with Concord Yellow Jackets Varsity batting in the bottom of the tenth when Austyn Curtis singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run. The pitching was strong. Concord pitchers struck out 12. Concord got on the board in the first inning. Scott Spicer singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. Riley Gannon pitched Concord Yellow Jackets Varsity to victory. He lasted three and a third innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out three. Logan Randall started the game for Concord Yellow Jackets Varsity. He allowed three hits and one run over six and two-thirds innings, striking out nine Concord racked up nine hits in the game. Curtis, Mitchell Brigham, and Spicer all managed multiple hits for Concord. Spicer, Brigham, and Curtis each collected two hits to lead the jackets. Concord didn't commit a single error in the field. In game two Noah Waldron had all the right stuff allowing zero runs and besting Union City by a score of 2-0 Waldron struck out four. Concord got things moving in the second inning. An error scored one run for Concord Yellow Jackets Varsity. Waldron toed the rubber for Concord.He lasted six innings, allowing five hits and zero runs while striking. Austyn Curtis led Concord with one hit in three at bats. Concord Yellow Jackets Varsity was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Scott Spicer made the most plays with seven.

On Saturday the track teams competed in the Litchfield Invitational. The girls team finished 4th out of twelve schools. Scoring for the team was Alex Butterfield who finished sixth in High Jump and Long Jump. Natallee Williams placed second in the discus. Billie Weeks who placed fourth in High Jump, sixth in shot put and teamed up with Ceirighen Gill, Mira Naumann, and Anna Burrow to finish second in the 400 meter relay. Ceirighen and Mira also joined Rylee Weeks and Madison Smith in the 800 Meter relay where they also placed second. Ceirighen finished fourth in the 200, then completed the day in the 1600 meter relay that finished fourth. Joining her on that relay team was Madison Nagel, Mira, and Skylar Thompson. Skylar also finished second in the 3200 meter run. Skylar began her day in the 3200 meter relay with Bridgette Holton, Jacey Hutchins and Rylee as they placed second. Rylee finished third in the 800 meter run. Jaycee competed in the 400 meter dash where she was sixth. Our freshmen relay team of Kiara Ozuzu, Lauren Howell, Anna Burrow and Natalie Sharp finished third. This Saturday we will head to Webberville for our Regional competition. On Saturday we will have a bus and we want everyone to ride the bus. Reminder on Wednesday we have pictures.

The track and field teams hosted Homer and Jonesville last night. The girls team was led by Billie Weeks as she won the 100 meter dash, the High Jump, and the long jump. She also finished third in Shot Put. In High Jump she cleared her highest height ever. In the 100 meter dash Zykiah Jones ran her fastest time ever. In Discus Natalee Williams was second and Lauryn Howell had her best toss ever. In High Jump Alex Butterfield placed second. Anna Burrow had a great day as she ran her fastest time ever in both 100 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles. Natalie Sharp placed third in the 300 meter hurdles with her best time ever. The 3200 meter relay team of Alaysia Guttierrez, Jacey Hutchins, Skylar Thompson and Rylee Weeks placed first. Skylar also won the 3200 meter run with her best time of the season. She also placed second in the 1600 meter run, where Rylee Weeks placed first. This Saturday the teams travel to Litchfield for an invitational.

Last night the varsity baseball team dropped two to Quincy. Both were great competitive games. Game one we fell 2-1 in 7. In game two we lost 3-2 in 8 innings. Every game we learn and improve little more. Keep grinding Concord.

The boys track team finished a perfect 7-0 in the Big 8 dual meet season by beating Homer and Jonesville and need to finish 5th place or better to win the Big 8 Champoonship.  Clayton Hinkle had a great day by winning both hurdle races, finishing 2nd in the long jump to CJ Glaspie, and running on the winning 400 relay team with Glaspie, Josh Sharp and Zeavion Jones. Vince Giuliano had another stellar day by winning the 100, 200 and 400 meter dashes and the 800 relay team with Jones, Chuckie King, and Glaspie. Jack Freeman won the 800 meter run and teamed with Bryan Smith, Matt Record and Jonathan Mikovits to win the 3200 relay against Homer. He also ran with Jones, Smith and King to win the 1600 relay. Seth Marshall won the high jump. CJ Glaspie won the long jump. Bryce Black won the discus and was second in the Shot put. Aaron Radecki and Christian Kirkland had season best throws in the discus. Matt Record won the 3200 against Homer. Great job Yellowjackets

On Friday night at the Stockbridge Track & Field Invitational our track athletes took on 19 other schools. The highlights for the girls included all of the following. Mira Naumann ran her fastest ever 100 meter dash. Rylee Weeks finished 6th in the 800 meter run with her best time ever. Alaysia Gutierrez had her best race of the season in both the 800 meter run and the 1600 Meter run. Skylar Thompson finished third in the 1600 meter run with her fastest time ever. Haylee Rinehart had an 11 second best time in the 3200 meter run. Anna Burrow rad her best time ever in the 100 meter hurdles and Natalie Sharp ran her fastest time ever in the 300 meter hurdles. The 1600 meter relay JV team of Lauryn Howell, Kiara Ozuzu, Madison Nagel, and Natalie Sharp finished in second place to earn their first ever medals.

The boys track team had an amazing day at the Stockbridge Invitational on Friday. The thinclads ran Division 4 State leading relay times in all four relays.  Zeavion Jones ran on all four relays. He teamed with Jack Freeman, Bryan Smith, and Jonathan Mikovits on the 2nd place 3200 relay. Jones ran with Josh Sharp, CJ Glaspie and Vince Giuliano on the winning 400 relay and 2nd place 800 relay. Jones, Smith , Freeman and Giuliano placed 3rd in the 1600 relay.  Giuliano won the 200 meter dash. Bryce Black was third in the discus and missed the school record by 4 inches. Jonathan Mikovits ran a personal record in the 1600 meter run and scored. Matt Record and Logan Barrett ran PR's in the 3200 meter run. The freshman 1600 relay team of Mikovits, Omarion Culliver, Chuckie King and Joe Bulko placed third. The Yellowjackets can wrap up the conference title with a victory over Jonesville and Homer on Wednesday at home. Come out and support the team

Concord Yellow Jackets Varsity baseball defeated Springport 3-2 on Friday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at two with Concord Yellow Jackets Varsity batting in the top of the seventh when the Springport pitcher threw a wild pitch allowing one run across the plate for Concord. The pitching was strong, Logan Randall struck out ten. In the first inning, Concord Yellow Jackets Varsity got their offense started when The Spartan pitcher induced Scott Spicer to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored. In the bottom of the second inning, Springport tied things up at two. Matt Riehle singled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs. Randall led the Concord Yellow Jackets Varsity to victory on the mound. He surrendered two runs on three hits over seven innings, striking out ten and walking zero. Isaac O'Dell, Spicer, Brandon Kettwich, and Noah Waldron each collected one hit to lead Concord Yellow Jackets Varsity. In game two Concord easily dispatched Springport 11-1. In the bottom of the second inning, Concord tied things up at one. Austyn Curtis grounded out, scoring one run. Concord Yellow Jackets Varsity pulled away for good with three runs in the third inning. In the third Noah Waldron was hit by a pitch, driving in a run and an error scored two runs for Concord. The Yellow Jackets notched three runs in the fifth inning. Isaac O'Dell, Scott Spicer, and Brandon Kettwich each had RBIs in the big inning. Waldron was credited with the victory for Concord Yellow Jackets Varsity. He went six innings, allowing one run on four hits and striking out six. O'Dell led Concord Yellow Jackets Varsity with two hits in four at bats.

In game one of a double header with Hillsdale Concord’s Varsity baseball team watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 10-0 loss to Hillsdale on Thursday. The Concord Yellow Jackets Varsity struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Hillsdale, giving up ten runs. One bright spot for Concord was a single by Austyn Curtis in the first inning. Brandon Kettwich led Concord Yellow Jackets Varsity with two hits in three at bats. In game two Concord showed their Grit And came away victorious over Hillsdale, 5-4 In the first inning, Concord Yellow Jackets Varsity got their offense started. Logan Randall drew a walk, scoring one run. Bobby Ward got the win for the Yellow Jackets. He allowed two hits and one run over two innings, striking out three. Riley Nieswender threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Concord Baseball totaled eight hits in the game. Waldron, Riley Gannon, and Scott Spicer all managed multiple hits for Concord Yellow Jackets Varsity. Spicer, Gannon, and Waldron each collected two hits to lead Concord Yellow Jackets Varsity.  boys track team strengthened their hold on the Big 8 lead by crushing Springport and Bronson Wednesday night. Vince Giuliano won the 100, 200 and placed 2nd in the 400. Bryan Smith won the 400 and Omarion Culliver completed the sweep by finishing 3rd in the 400. Jack Freeman and Zeavion Jones placed 1st and 2nd in the 800 meters. Jonathan Mikovits and Matt Record placed 1st and 3rd in the 1600 respectively. Joe Bulko won the 3200 meter run. Clayton Hinkle placed 2nd in the high and intermediate hurdles. Bryce Black finished 1st and Aaron Radecki 2nd in the discus. Christian Kirkland won the shot put and Black finished 2nd. CJ Glaspie won the long jump and Hinkle was 3rd. The 3200 relay team of Luke Holton, Record, Mikovits and Freeman won as did the 800 relay team of  Chuckie King, Glaspie, Smith and Giuliano. The 1600 realy team of Mikovits, King, Freeman and Smith capped off the evening with a win.  The Yellowjackets will compete Friday at the Stockbridge Invitational
