The 8th grade volleyball team travelled to Marshall for their 2nd tournament of the season. They were able to play against some great teams including Marshall and Coldwater. Despite a losing record, improvement was shown by all players. Zoe Schultz had 4 aces for the day. Madi Barrett added 2 aces and Maria Stevens and Rylee Sinden each added 1 ace. Maria Stevens led the team in kills with 4. Madi Finch stepped in to play middle and had 1 kill and 1 block. Keep improving, ladies!

The varsity football game will be played at 4:00 pm tomorrow (gates open at 3:00). The Punt, Pass & Kick participants will be recognized at halftime. We will also recognize all military in attendance just after halftime.

Tonight’s football game is postponed until tomorrow at 4:00 PM (tentative). More information to follow.

The Varsity Volleyball team lost to Bronson 14-25, 11-25, 16-25. We did a lot of good things defensively tonight! Georgia Weeks led the hitters with 6 kills and Karlee Gamet and Hadley Kettwich each had 3 kills. Julia Riske has 16 setting assists. Rylee Weeks led the defense with 10 digs, Karlee had 9, and Jacey Hutchins and Georgia each had 8. Julia led the servers, serving 14/14 and Rylee Weeks was 10/10! We are now 1-2 in the conference!

UPDATE: There will be no JV football game next Thursday (10/3) v. Quincy and the following Thursday (10/10) v. Union City. We are targeting to play on OCTOBER 17th at Homer if healthier and grades improve.

The middle school football team beat East Jackson 40-14 with the whole football team giving 110 percent for all four quarters. Sean Combs from the defensive line ran 60 yards and made a saving tackle which resulted in us stopping them on four downs. Ethan Newman 8-9 passing with a 50 yd touchdown. Gavin Riske was 4-4 with 60 yards passing. Makei Wingfield had 160 yards rushing with four touchdowns including a kick off return. Collin Thompson had 65 yards rushing and 10 tackles on defense. TJ Allen had 4 receptions for 85 yards and an interception on defense with a 65 yard return for a touchdown. Alex Winters eight tackles and a sack. Ashton Easterwood seven tackles and two sacks. Alec Warner two receptions for two point conversions. Levi Raymond had eight tackles on defense and two receptions for 20 yards on offense.

The Cross Country Team would like to say Thank You to all of the community that came out to help with our Big 8 Jamboree last night. We would also like to say thank you to Coach Clark and the football team and all those that came out to cheer us on. The girls finished this first Big 8 Jamboree in fourth place. Leading the way was Skylar Thompson as she not only placed first but finished 50 seconds ahead of the Homer runner that was second. Congratulations to Shianne Alejandro and Nichelle Smith as they both ran their fastest times ever. The boys team battled the other schools in the Big 8 as they narrowly beat out Jonesville for the top spot. This Jamboree Championship improves the boys season record to 50-0. Leading the way for the guys was Jonathan Mikovits in 3rd, Matt Record in 8th, Bryan Smith in 10th. Congratulations to Cody Hellard, and Adair Artis as they both had an outstanding race. Our next meet will be on Saturday at Stockbridge the first race will start at 9:00 am.

The Middle School Cross Country team competed in the first Nig 8 Jamboree of the year. The girl's team placed 2nd overall to Quincy, who was 1 pt ahead of the Yellowjackets. Cece Barrett won the meet, Riley Adam's was 3rd, Gwen Bulko was 4th, Caitlin Wright was 15th and Dani Fritz was 64th
The boys placed a close 6th and were lead by Ttreke Brown who finished 18th, Lleyton Bauman was 24th, Manix Furqueron was 25th, Slade Hellard 28th, Nate Fritz 30th and Maddox Hutchinson was 38th.

The 8th grade volleyball team was defeated by Jonesville (15-25, 4-25, 22-25, 15-25, 6-15). Madi Barrett led the team in aces with 9. Savanna Payne added 4 aces. Maria Stevens had 3 kills.

Our Cross Country Teams will be competing in the first Big 8 Jamboree of the 2019 season. We would appreciate you coming out and cheering for us, as we run our first home meet in ten years. High School girls race is at 5:00 PM HS boys race approximately 5:40 PM and the Middle School race is about 6:10 PM. Start and finish area is by the High School entrance off Monroe street.

The Donny Brigham Punt, Pass & Kick will begin at 6:00 tomorrow (9/23). Sign-in will be at 5:30. The flyer said 6:30, but it's been changed to 6:00 pm at the football field. This is for students in grades 1st thru 6th grade. We hope to see you there!

Concord Varsity Volleyball team went 3-3 in pool play but came up short of advancing into the playoffs. They split with Jackson 16-25, 25-23; split with Vandercook Lake 22-25, 27-25; split with Columbia Central 25-20, 20-25. Leading the defense was Karlee Gamet with 46 digs, Hadley Kettwich with 29 digs, Jacey Hutchins 27 digs and Georgia Weeks and Rylee Weeks each had 25. Georgia led the hitters with 15 kills, Jacey Had 12 kills, Karlee 10 kills and Anna Burrow 8 kills. Julia Riske had 49 assists. Rylee Weeks led the servers, serving 30/30 with 1 ace, Karlee Gamet 28/28 with 1 ace, Georgia was 22/23 with 1 ace and Julia was 21/22 with 2 aces. The ladies play next Thursday at home against Bronson.

The 8th grade volleyball team met some tough teams at the Union City Invitational on Saturday. They finished last in their pool and then were eliminated by a talented Centreville team in the quarterfinals. Zoe Schultz led the team in aces with 10. Also contributing aces were Maria Stevens, Maya McCorkle, Rylee Sinden, Lily Helms, Madi Finch, Madi Barrett, Sylvia Kloack, and Savanna Payne. Maria Stevens had 8 kills. Zoe Schultz had 5 assists and Ella Woolworth had 2. Tanith Walker passed well for the team.

Middle School football game.. We won 54-14 over Springport Middle School. Overall every player got in the game and gave 110 percent and never quit. The offense and defensive line dominated on both sides of the ball. Offensive standouts were Makei Wingfield with over 100 yards rushing three touchdowns on the ground and one pass through the air from Ethan Newman. Collin Thompson had 75 yards rushing with three touchdowns. Ethan Newman was 8-9 passing with two passing touchdowns one for 35 yards to Alec Warner and one to Makei Wingfield for 60 yards. Marcello Bommerito had three receptions and a 55 yard kick off return. Defensive standouts were Makei Wingfield with one interception and eight tackles, Collin Thompson had 11 tackles, Ashton Easterwood three quarterback sacks and six tackles, Marcello Bommerito had two interceptions and four tackles, Dustin Hamilton had one interception, Rollin Smith one QB sack and five tackles, Levi Raymond had one interception and 6 tackles, Alex Winters had seven tackles and a QB sack and Carter Arbuckle had one QB sack and 6 tackles.

Georgia Weeks had a solid night with 10 kills, Karlee Gamet had 8 and Jacey Hutchins and Anna Burrow each had 4. Julia Riske had 26 setting assists. Georgia played great defense with 31 digs, Rylee Weeks has 18, Karlee and Hadley Kettwich each had 17 and Jacey had 16. Georgia also led the servers, serving 17/18 with 2 aces, Rylee Weeks was 16/17 with 1 ace, Karlee, Hadley, Jacey, and Rilee Neely each added 1 ace. The ladies are now 1-1 in conference.
