The JV volleyball team fought hard but came up short vs a talented Bronson team losing 13-25, 21-25 and 18-25. Hadley Kettwich led the team with 13 assists, 8 digs, 3 aces and 2 kills. Anna Burrow had 5 kills and Rylee Weeks had 10 digs to finish out the night. Keep working hard, ladies!
Monday, the girls golf team earned a 4th place finish at the Onsted Invitational. Concord shot a team score of 414, and were lead by Shayla Martin & Khloe Rothenberger who both shot 94, and tied for 7th place in the individual honors. Madison Reiniche added a 97, and Bree Vilimont rounded out the team scoring with pr of 129. Congratulations girls on a fine performance, and good luck Wednesday in the Hudson Jamboree.
The 7th grade volleyball team fought hard, but fell short against Homer (7-25, 17-25, 25-8) and Springport (21-25, 25-27, 23-25). Madi Barrett led the team in aces with 23. Zoe Schultz also added 6 aces. Good job, Lady Jackets!
The 7th grade volleyball team travelled to Marshall for their first tournament of the season. Although their record doesn't show it, they made some great improvements and also made some outstanding plays! Madisyn Barrett led the team in aces with 17. Madisonn Finch added 6 aces. Savanna Payne, Maria Stevens, Sylvia Kloack, and Maya McCorkle each had 2 aces. Ella Woolworth and Tanith Walker each added 1 ace. Rylee Sinden played great defense and had 3 digs. Ella Woolworth also had 2 assists and Maria Stevens and Maya McCorkle each had 2 kills. Great job Lady Jackets!

Tonight the Varsity volleyball dropped their match to the Reading Rangers in 5 close sets. 18-25, 18-25, 25-22, 25-21 & 6-15. Senior Brittian Anderson lead the team in kills with 13, Bridgette Holton 8, Georgia Weeks 6 and Alex Butterfield and Julia Riske each had 3. Julia Riske had 23 assists. Freshman Georgia Weeks lead the team in digs with 31, Alex Butterfield and Julia Riske each had 24, Jacey Hutchins 22 and Laina Lasky had 20. The lady’s are now 0-2 in the Big 8 conference and will travel to Bronson to take on the defending class C state champs. Staying focused each week and pushing each other to get better is our main goal. Stay confident lady jackets!
Today the Varsity volleyball team had a great day at the Whitmore Lake tournament! They beat Olivet 25-14, 25-9 & 15-25. Then lost to a talented New Boston Huron 25-20, 19-25, 20-25. The girls finished 2nd in their pool and advanced to the quarterfinals and lost in 3 to Clarenceville 25-23, 18-25 & 18-20. Senior Bridgette Holton lead the team in kills with 14, freshman Georgia Weeks had 10, Brittian Anderson and Bailey Sinden each had 9 and Jacey Hutchins had 5. Julia Riske had 35 assists. Jacey Hutchins lead the team in digs with 21, Georgia Weeks and Laina Lasky each had 18 and freshman Karlee Gamet had 13. Each girl contributed today and our chemistry was much better! Their next match is home Tuesday night against Reading 6pm.
Tonight the Varsity volleyball team lost to a tough Jonesville team 20-25, 13-25 and 9-25. With 4 kills a piece was Brittian Anderson, Bailey Sinden and Bridgette Holton. Freshman Georgia Weeks chipped in 3 kills and Karlee Gamet had 1. Julia Riske had 12 assists. Georgia Weeks lead the team in digs with 11. As a team we didn’t have one serving error which is a great improvement! With such a young team, I’m very proud of each girl tonight. We have to keep working hard and know that it will pay off. Last night the Cross Country Teams traveled to Springport for the Springport Invitational along with 8 other schools. The Guys knew going in it was going to be a battle with Potterville. last season Potterville won the meet and went on to finish Runner-up in the State. Our guys were ready for the challenge at approximately the half way point in the race, Potterville was ahead by 3 points. In the end that lead was not enough as our guys were passing lots of runners.
The guys finished 12 points ahead of Potterville, won their third straight Invitational Championship! Extended their record to 31 - 0. Leading the way was Jonathan Mikovits in 3rd, he was followed by Matt Record in 5th, Bryan Smith in 7th, Joe Bulko in 8th, Luke Holton in 11th, Cole Thompson in 14th, Cody Hellard in 17th. Logan Barrett, Chuckie King and Gavin Adams also competed for the Team. Gavin had an outstanding race as he ran his best time of the Season. Congratulations guys on an outstanding night of running.
In the girls race out of the same 9 schools they finished in 5th. They were led by Skylar Thompson in 3rd, Haylee Reinhart in 11th, Haylie Kowalski in 39th, Alexis Dawson in 41st, and Halie Cesco in 43rd. Congratulations to Skylar and Reinhart as they both earned medals. Great Job Ladies.
On Tuesday the teams travel to Eaton Rapids to compete.
Tonight the jv volleyball team lost a hard fought match vs the Jonesville Comets. The ladies fell just short of a win losing 23-25, 21-25. Rylee Weeks led the team tonight with 12 digs and 2 kills. Hadley Kettwich had 7 digs, 3 kills and 6 assists. Kayla Miller had 10 digs and 3 aces! Keep working hard ladies!
Tonight the varsity volleyball team had their home opener and had a tough two matches. Facing a strong Camden Frontier team losing 9-25 & 13-25. Next facing a scrappy Clinton team playing much stronger but coming up short 17-25 & 20-25. Bailey Sinden lead the team in kills with 4, Brittian Anderson 3 and Bridgette Holton and Georgia Weeks each had 2. Jacey Hutchins had 18 digs, Georgia Weeks 11 and Julia Riske and Karlee Gamet each had 8. The ladies start conference play Thursday at Jonesville starting at 5:30. With a very young team we have a lot of potential and hard work ahead of us. Keeping building each game and having confidence!

Friday night The Concord varsity football team traveled to Jonesville. The boys started hot and piled on a 32-8 lead in the first half. They were able to hold on despite a lot of adversity and finished with a big win, 38-32. Unfortunately The JV wasn’t able to get their second win on Thursday. They were riddled by injuries. Despite that, they never quit. We are always proud of our Concord boys effort regardless of outcome. Great job JV, most teams would have folded early, but you fought to the end!!

Last night at Victory Park the Cross Country Teams competed against 12 other schools. The first race of the night was the High School Boys and for the second week in a row they came away as Meet Champions edging out Fremont by 8 points. They were led by Jonathan Mikovits second place finish he was followed by Matt Record in 8th, Bryan Smith in 10th, Joe Bulko in 16th, Luke Holton in 19th, Cole Thompson in 27th, Cody Hellard in 33rd, Logan Barrett in 40th, Chuckin King in 53rd, Sebastian Gamet in 75th, and Gavin Adams in 79th. All 11 athletes ran their fastest time of the season which is just amazing. Yet Chuckie King ran a 45 second career best time. Great job Guys! Season record 23 - 0.
While the guys were celebrating an amazing night of running the girls were preparing for their own race. Skylar Thompson finished in second place as she led the team to a sixth place finish. The teams were really bunched up as the girls were only 20 points away from second place. What is also exciting the schools that were ahead of us are all larger schools. Northwest, Eaton Rapids, Onsted and Fremont. Following Skylar was Haylee Reinhart in 5th place, Bridgette Holton in 17th, Halie Cesco in 48th, Alexis Dawson in 50th, Natalie Sharp in 54th, and Haylie Kowalski in 65th. Congratulations ladies on an amazing night of running. Halie Cesco was 6 minutes and 58 seconds faster then last week and only 7 seconds from her fastest time ever.
Next week the teams travel to Springport for the Springport Invitational.
The junior varsity volleyball team traveled to Marshall tonight to go up against Marshall and Charlotte. Losing to a very talented Marshall team and ending the night beating Charlotte. Georgia Weeks had 14 kills, 11 digs and 4 aces. Anna Burrow had 8 kills. Rylee Weeks had 18 digs and Hadley Kettwich had 27 assists and 3 aces. Keep working hard, ladies!
Yesterday the varsity volleyball team traveled to Blissfield for a quad and lost 13-25 & 21-25 to Tecumseh, beat Blissfield 25-17, 18-25 & 15-23. Then finished the day beating Grass Lake 16-25, 25-8, 15-13. Having a fantastic day at the net was Billie Weeks with 18 kills, 48 attempts and only 4 errors. Brittian also took care of business at the net with 10 kills and 3 solo blocks. Alex Butterfield had 7 kills, Bailey Sinden had 6 and Bridgette Holton had 5. Julia Riske had 33 assists. Billie Weeks lead the team in digs with 20, Jacey Hutchins had 14, Alex had 12 and Karlee Gamet in her varsity debut had 9. Bridgette Holton lead in aces with 6. The ladies have a short break before playing their next match on Tuesday Sept 5th at home. Keep working towards our goals lady’s!!

I have a special announcement. Mrs. Gene Hartwig will be inducted into the BCAM (Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan) Hall of Honor. She was selected to win one of this year’s awards under the category of “Friends of Basketball”. She will be honored at the Hall of Fame/Hall of Honor Banquet in conjunction with the BCAM Coaches Clinic—this year to be held Saturday, October 6th at the Auburn Hills Marriott Pontiac Hotel in Pontiac, MI. Hospitality hour begins at 5:30pm and dinner starts at 6:30pm.

Gene has volunteer her time to the Concord Athletic Department as a announcer for basketball, volleyball, and track for 30+ years. She also has ran the scoreboard and served as a line judge for many years in volleyball. She has also graced us with her beautiful rendition of the national anthem over the years. If you see Mrs. Hartwig, please congratulate her on the prestigious award.
The Concord Varsity football team came through with 3 turnovers and a blocked punt in the second half to compliment their 24 Fourth qtr points. These boys played with grit all night and pulled off a stunning come from behind victory to beat Hanover. What a great way to to start the season. The only thing better than beating your rival to start the season is beating them twice. Great job jv and varsity this week. Program is 2-0 to start the season. #BrickbyBrick
