Today the Concord junior varsity volleyball team traveled to Spring Arbor for the country tournament . The lady yellow jackets started the day with a bang defeating Napoleon and Vandercook then splitting with Hanover leaving them with a 4th seed overall on the day out of pool play. The girls then defeated Hanover in the quarterfinals before falling short to the tournament champions, the Western Panthers. The ladies fought hard all day and grew as a group! Anna Burrow finished the day with 33 kills and 5 aces. Karlee Gamet had 58 digs, 27 kills and 5 aces. Rylee Weeks had 35 digs and 5 aces and Hadley Ketwick had 64 assists, 15 digs, 11 aces and 9 kills! It was a great day for the yellow jackets!

The 7th grade volleyball team showed a lot of improvement this weekend at the Union City Invitational and finished 3rd in their pool. They defeated Reading (25-18, 25-22) and then fell short against Union City (17-25, 15-25) and Athens (11-25, 5-25). Madi Barrett led the team in aces with 9. Zoe Schultz, Maya McCorkle, and Sylvia Kloack each added 3 aces. Maria Stevens had 2 aces and Tanith Walker added 1 ace. Savanna Payne and Rylee Sinden played great defense. Way to go, Lady Jackets!

The MS Football team lost 40-6 to Homer. Philip Horrell had the only touchdown. TJ Allen and Collin Thomson had a good defensive night. Mark File had two interceptions and Daniel Henley had four reception.

On Saturday the Cross Country teams competed in the Mendon Invitational. There were 15 schools competing and the boys team narrowly finished second by 5 points to Kalamazoo. The team was led by Jonathan Mikovits as he ran an outstanding race. He ran his fastest time ever and in doing so also ran away from all the rest of the competition as he captured his first invitational Championship. following him was Matt Record in 7th place, Bryan Smith in 10th place, Joe Bulko in 11th place, Luke Holton in 15th place, Cole Thompson in 24th, Cody Hellard in 27th, Logan Barrett in 59th, Chuckie King in 66th Sebastian Gamet in 69th, and Gavin Adams in 94th. Now there current season record stands at 44 - 1. In the girls race they also had an outstanding day as they finished in third place 14 points behind second place Lawton. They were led by Skylar Thompson as she ran her best time of the season and placed second. She was followed by Haylee Reinhart who also had a great race placing 9th, she was followed by Bridgette Holton in 24th, Alaysia Gutierrez in 47th, Natalie Sharp in 56, Natalee Williams in 62, Alexis Dawson in 63, Haylie Kowalski in 70th and Halie Cesco in 72nd. It was a great weekend of running as we had 16 athletes run their fastest time of the season. Our next meet will be on Tuesday the 25th at Quincy for the first Big 8 Jamboree. Freshman Georgia Weeks lead the team in digs with 10, Brittian Anderson had 2 block kills. Saturday the ladies will play in Spring Arbor at the county tournament at 8am. Monday, the girls golf team earned a 4th place finish at the Onsted Invitational. Concord shot a team score of 414, and were lead by Shayla Martin & Khloe Rothenberger who both shot 94, and tied for 7th place in the individual honors. Madison Reiniche added a 97, and Bree Vilimont rounded out the team scoring with pr of 129. Congratulations girls on a fine performance, and good luck Wednesday in the Hudson Jamboree.

Although their record doesn't show it, they made some great improvements and also made some outstanding plays! Madisyn Barrett led the team in aces with 17. Madisonn Finch added 6 aces. Savanna Payne, Maria Stevens, Sylvia Kloack, and Maya McCorkle each had 2 aces. Ella Woolworth and Tanith Walker each added 1 ace. Rylee Sinden played great defense and had 3 digs. Tonight the Varsity volleyball dropped their match to the Reading Rangers in 5 close sets. 18-25, 18-25, 25-22, 25-21 & 6-15. Senior Brittian Anderson lead the team in kills with 13, Bridgette Holton 8, Georgia Weeks 6 and Alex Butterfield and Julia Riske each had 3. Julia Riske had 23 assists. Freshman Georgia Weeks lead the team in digs with 31, Alex Butterfield and Julia Riske each had 24, Jacey Hutchins 22 and Laina Lasky had 20. The lady’s are now 0-2 in the Big 8 conference and will travel to Bronson to take on the defending class C state champs. Staying focused each week and pushing each other to get better is our main goal. Stay confident lady jackets!

Today the Varsity volleyball team had a great day at the Whitmore Lake tournament! They beat Olivet 25-14, 25-9 & 15-25. Then lost to a talented New Boston Huron 25-20, 19-25, 20-25. The girls finished 2nd in their pool and advanced to the quarterfinals and lost in 3 to Clarenceville 25-23, 18-25 & 18-20. Senior Bridgette Holton lead the team in kills with 14, freshman Georgia Weeks had 10, Brittian Anderson and Bailey Sinden each had 9 and Jacey Hutchins had 5. Julia Riske had 35 assists. Jacey Hutchins lead the team in digs with 21, Georgia Weeks and Laina Lasky each had 18 and freshman Karlee Gamet had 13. Each girl contributed today and our chemistry was much better! Their next match is home Tuesday night against Reading 6pm.

Tonight the Varsity volleyball team lost to a tough Jonesville team 20-25, 13-25 and 9-25. With 4 kills a piece was Brittian Anderson, Bailey Sinden and Bridgette Holton. Freshman Georgia Weeks chipped in 3 kills and Karlee Gamet had 1. Julia Riske had 12 assists. Georgia Weeks lead the team in digs with 11. As a team we didn’t have one serving error which is a great improvement! With such a young team, I’m very proud of each girl tonight. We have to keep working hard and know that it will pay off. The Guys knew going in it was going to be a battle with Potterville. last season Potterville won the meet and went on to finish Runner-up in the State. Our guys were ready for the challenge at approximately the half way point in the race, Potterville was ahead by 3 points. In the end that lead was not enough as our guys were passing lots of runners. The guys finished 12 points ahead of Potterville, won their third straight Invitational Championship! Extended their record to 31 - 0. Leading the way was Jonathan Mikovits in 3rd, he was followed by Matt Record in 5th, Bryan Smith in 7th, Joe Bulko in 8th, Luke Holton in 11th, Cole Thompson in 14th, Cody Hellard in 17th. Logan Barrett, Chuckie King and Gavin Adams also competed for the Team. Gavin had an outstanding race as he ran his best time of the Season. Congratulations guys on an outstanding night of running. In the girls race out of the same 9 schools they finished in 5th. Tonight the varsity volleyball team had their home opener and had a tough two matches. Facing a strong Camden Frontier team losing 9-25 & 13-25. Next facing a scrappy Clinton team playing much stronger but coming up short 17-25 & 20-25. Bailey Sinden lead the team in kills with 4, Brittian Anderson 3 and Bridgette Holton and Georgia Weeks each had 2. Jacey Hutchins had 18 digs, Georgia Weeks 11 and Julia Riske and Karlee Gamet each had 8. The ladies start conference play Thursday at Jonesville starting at 5:30. With a very young team we have a lot of potential and hard work ahead of us. Keeping building each game and having confidence!
