Last night the junior varsity volleyball team hosted Quincy and pulled off a very exciting win after being behind game 2! The lady jackets won 25-14 and 25-23 to wrap up the night Karlee Gamet led us with 6 digs, 4 kills and 2 aces. Rylee Weeks had 9 digs 2 aces and 2 kills. Hadley Kettwich had 8 digs and 3 aces and Kayla Miller had 5 digs, 2 aces and 1 kill! Very nice win, ladies!!!

Tonight the Varsity volleyball team hosted Quincy for Big 8 conference play and lost a nail biter 16-25, 25-18, 25-18, 24-26, 11-15. The girls played their best match of the season by far and I can’t express how proud of them I am for adjusting to a new line up and girls playing different roles. They each stepped up and showed some heart tonight! Billie Weeks had a season high with 19 kills, Bridgette Holton had 7, Brittian 6, Georgia 6 and Bailey 5. Julia Riske had 36 assists and 3 aces. Alex Butterfield played great defense and had 36 digs, Georgia Weeks had 30, Billie Weeks 27, Bailey 26 and Laina and Julia each had 13. Bailey Sinden had 3 aces, and Georgia had 1. The ladies will host their dig pink tournament on Saturday and will be raising money for Concord alumni, past volleyball player and breast cancer survivor, Jamie Houghtaling. Come out support the girls and a great cause for breast cancer awareness month!

Tonight the junior varsity volleyball team hosted a Tri vs Hillsdale Academy and Grass Lake. The lady jackets went undefeated on the night beating Hillsdale Academy 25-16 and 25-18 and then turning around and beating Grass Lake 25-20 and 25-23. Leading the way for us tonight was Karlee Gamet with 6 kills, 29 digs and 4 aces. Anna Burrow had 10 kills, Hadley Kettwich had 37 assists, 5 aces and 3 kills and Rylee Weeks had 30 digs and 3 aces! These ladies are really growing together as a group and it’s fun to watch! Keep working hard ladies! We play home vs Union City on Tuesday!

Tonight the Varsity volleyball team hosted a home Tri-match with Hillsdale Academy and Grass Lake. The girls dropped a close game to Hillsdale Academy 20-25 & 24-26. Next facing Grass Lake and rallied back to lose a close match 20-25 & 23-25. Leading in kills was Billie Weeks with 16, Alex Butterfield 7, Bailey Sinden 6, Brittian Anderson 5 and Bridgette Holton 4. Julia Riske had 31 assists. Bailey Sinden had 5 aces on the night and Julia Riske had 3. Billie Weeks lead in digs with 29, Jacey Hutchins 18, Julia Riske 17 and Alex Butterfield 16. I’m very proud of how each game we rallied back to keep it a very close game. Not the outcome we wanted but big improvements tonight on each players part. The lady’s will play their next conference match Tuesday night against Quincy. Stay positive and WE ARE Concord Volleyball!!!

On Tuesday night the Cross Country Teams traveled to Quincy for the first Jamboree of the 2018 season. A Jamboree consists of all 8 Big 8 schools competing against each other at one location. The boys team has been really focused on working hard in order to beat Jonesville. Well all that hard work paid off as the guys won the Jamboree and were 15 points ahead of second place Jonesville. The Jamboree was Concord's 47th Championship out of the last 52 Jamborees. Very impressive victory. The Team was led by Jonathan Mikovits who was second, he was followed by Matt Record in 8th, Bryan Smith in 11th, Luke Holton in 12th, Joe Bulko in 13th, Cole Thompson in 17th, Logan Barrett in 25th, Cody Hellard in 32nd, Chuckie King in 50th, Sebastian Gamet in 60th and Gavin Adams in 61st. The JV team score led to a third place finish just 12 points behind first place Homer. Congratulations to Gavin and Logan as they both ran their fastest time of the season. On the girls side we finished in 5th place as Quincy won their own Jamboree. Running a fantastic race was Skylar Thompson as she took first place, she was followed by Haylee Reinhart who was 6th, Natalie sharp was 36th, Natalee Williams was 40th, Alexis Dawson was 45th, and Halie Cesco was 50th. The 7th grade volleyball team battled with Jonesville, but came up short (13-25, 15-25, 25-23, 12-25, 25-10). Madi Barrett was on fire from the service line serving 17 in a row in set 3, and she had 28 aces for the night. Tuesday, the girls played a water soaked round at Lakeland Hills G.C. to contest the IGL conference championship. The team played well especially given the conditions, but fell to Madison & Columbia. Concord shot a team score of 413, and three players earned All-Conference honors, Shayla Martin lead the team with a score of 93 and earned 2nd team All-Conference honors, Khloe Rothenberger shot 94 and earn 1st team All-Conference honors, Madison Reiniche shot 99 & also earned 1st team All-Conference honors. Yesterday the Varsity volleyball team played in the county tournament and split with Napoleon 25-21 & 11-25, lost to a tough Vandercook Lake team 9-25 & 21-25. The girls ended pool play against Hanover and lost 10-25 & 11-25. A positive improvement the girls made was only missing 3 serves all day. Billie Weeks made her return after being out over 3 weeks and played great offensively with 59 attempts, 13 kills, and only 5 errors. Bridgette Holton also played very solid at the net with 9 kills, 5 errors, 39 attempts and 5 solo blocks. Georgia Weeks, Alex Butterfield and Bailey Sinden each had 3 kills on the day. Julia Riske had 29 assists. Georgia Weeks and Alex Butterfield each had 20 digs, Julia 17, Billie 16 and Bailey had 12. The ladies will travel to Springport for their next conference match Tuesday the 25th!

Today the Concord junior varsity volleyball team traveled to Spring Arbor for the country tournament . The lady yellow jackets started the day with a bang defeating Napoleon and Vandercook then splitting with Hanover leaving them with a 4th seed overall on the day out of pool play. The girls then defeated Hanover in the quarterfinals before falling short to the tournament champions, the Western Panthers. The ladies fought hard all day and grew as a group! Anna Burrow finished the day with 33 kills and 5 aces. Karlee Gamet had 58 digs, 27 kills and 5 aces. Rylee Weeks had 35 digs and 5 aces and Hadley Ketwick had 64 assists, 15 digs, 11 aces and 9 kills! It was a great day for the yellow jackets!

The 7th grade volleyball team showed a lot of improvement this weekend at the Union City Invitational and finished 3rd in their pool. They defeated Reading (25-18, 25-22) and then fell short against Union City (17-25, 15-25) and Athens (11-25, 5-25). Madi Barrett led the team in aces with 9. On Saturday the Cross Country teams competed in the Mendon Invitational. There were 15 schools competing and the boys team narrowly finished second by 5 points to Kalamazoo. The team was led by Jonathan Mikovits as he ran an outstanding race. He ran his fastest time ever and in doing so also ran away from all the rest of the competition as he captured his first invitational Championship. following him was Matt Record in 7th place, Bryan Smith in 10th place, Joe Bulko in 11th place, Luke Holton in 15th place, Cole Thompson in 24th, Cody Hellard in 27th, Logan Barrett in 59th, Chuckie King in 66th Sebastian Gamet in 69th, and Gavin Adams in 94th. Now there current season record stands at 44 - 1. In the girls race they also had an outstanding day as they finished in third place 14 points behind second place Lawton. They were led by Skylar Thompson as she ran her best time of the season and placed second. She was followed by Haylee Reinhart who also had a great race placing 9th, she was followed by Bridgette Holton in 24th, Alaysia Gutierrez in 47th, Natalie Sharp in 56, Natalee Williams in 62, Alexis Dawson in 63, Haylie Kowalski in 70th and Halie Cesco in 72nd.
