Concord Athletics

The JV Volleyball team fought hard and played tough at the Camden-Frontier tournament on Saturday. They finished second in their pool, splitting with Sand Creek (25-17, 23-25), beating Camden-Frontier (25-22, 25-22), and losing to Lenawee Christian (14-25, 12-25). They went on to defeat Hillsdale Academy in the quarterfinals (25-16, 25-22). Then, they were defeated by a tough Blissfield team in the semifinals (13-25, 20-25). Madi Barrett had 16 aces, 22 digs, and 3 kills. Maria Stevens had 12 aces, 8 assists, and 20 kills. Rylee Sinden added 6 aces and 21 digs. Savannah Payne and Hannah Stimer played tough defense, with Stimer having 21 digs and Payne adding 19. Jaylyn Otto had 9 aces and 6 kills. Ella Woolworth added 3 assists. Taylor Cole had 4 kills and 2 assists for the day. Pyper Norris and Lauren Trader passed great and played good defense. Good job, Lady Jackets!

Tomorrow's IGL Girls Golf match at Columbia-Central (Clark Lake GC) and JV Volleyball Tourney at Concord have been postponed due to anticipated heat issue. We will look to reschedule both events at a later time.

The physical must be done after April 15, 2021 to be valid. Also, please make sure the physical card is filled out completely and signed by the parent & athlete in all required spots.

The Varsity Volleyball team travelled to the Battle Creek St. Phil tournament today for their season opener. It was a very hot and humid day- but the girls played through it! They defeated Hillsdale Academy 25-14, 25-11, 25-19 and Centreville 15-25, 26-24, 25-17, 25-15. Then lost in the first round of the Gold division playoffs to Athens 6-25, 18-25. Leaders for the day were Georgia Weeks with 26 kills, 3 blocks, 20 digs and went 17/22 at the line with 1 ace. Karlee Gamet had 20 kills, 18 digs, was 29/31 with 4 aces. Rylee Weeks led all servers with 37/38 and 5 aces. She also had 5 kills and 15 digs. Hadley Kettwich had 52 setting assists, 5 kills and was 27/29 serving with 3 aces. Anna Burrow had 10 kills, Sam Kessman was 5/5 serving, and Jayden Householder had 7 kills, 12 digs, and was 13/15 serving. Kayla Miller was 18/20 serving with 2 aces. The Lady’s are off to a 2-1 start!! They resume play on Tuesday at Hanover-Horton.

Summer Football for all High School players will begin on July 6th at 4:00PM-6:30PM. Please arrive early to get your helmet. Make sure to bring plenty of water for yourself. Also, don't forget that your alternate uniforms and whether or not we have 2 a day practices will be determined by our attendance at summer football activities. I can't wait to see everyone!!
