Last night the Concord girls ran with a mission to beat Jonesville. We all knew it was going to be a battle, some athletes were going to have to step up and do events they had never done before. In the end the result was Concord 68 Jonesville 66. The night got started with an awesome performance by our discus throwers. The result Natalee Williams took first and Hailei Manthei took second. Alex Butterfield then finished third in the long jump and second in the high jump. When the running events started the girls 3200 relay team of Anna Bulko, Natalee Williams, Victoria Strouss and Sarah Strouss took first place. Then in the 100 meter dash Cerighen Gill ran amazing as she took first edging out the girls from Jonesville. Up next was the 800 meter relay where Alex, Madison Smith, Gabby Yousif and Natalee dominated as they finished in first. In the 1600 Samantha Saenz, Skylar Thompson and Anna finished in first, second and third as they swept the event. Anna had a great last lap as she passed and then held off Jonesville's number one runner. Samantha then ran an outstanding 400 where she finished first and her teammate Bridgette Holton battled to finish in second. Then we moved on to the 800 where Skylar and Natalee finished first and second. While Bridgette ran her guts out as she barely got beat out for third place. At this point in the meet there was 3 events to go and the score was tied. Ceirighen and Samantha stepped on the track in the 200 where Jonesville had three girls with times faster then all our girls. Yet Ceirighen took command early in the race only to be edged out by two one hundredths of a second with Samantha beating out all the rest of the Jonesville runners for third place. Going into the 3200 Jonesville was now ahead and Skylar, Anna, and Sarah Strouss finished 1, 2, 3 to secure the win. Sarah ran her only 3200 of her career as she did it for the team. Congratulations ladies on an outstanding night.
