The Varsity Volleyball team lost to Bronson in the first round of the Big 8 Tournament 16-25, 23-25, 20-25. They beat Homer 17-25, 25-21, 25-21, 26-24 in the finals to hold onto to 3rd place in the conference with a 6-3 record. Georgia Weeks led the hitters with 28 kills, 5 blocks, 41 digs and was 24/28 with 3 aces serving. Karlee Gamet had 10 kills, 45 digs and was 22/26 serving with 1 ace. Jacey Hutchins had 6 kills and was 34/35 serving with 2 aces. Anna Burrow had 3 kills and 7 blocks. Julia Riske has 42 setting assists and was 20/23 serving with 3 aces. Rylee Weeks had 3 kills, 2 blocks, 36 digs and was 18/24 serving with 4 aces. Kayla Miller was 15/17 serving and had 23 digs. The Lady Jackets travel to Onsted on Wednesday for a Dig Pink Quad.
The Concord Varsity Volleyball team will play at Reading High School tomorrow (10/24). Concord will play Bronson at 9:00 am in the auxiliary gym and Reading will play Homer at 9:00 am in the HS gym. The winners & losers will play each other immediately following. There will be 2 spectators per pass allowed for Saturday's event.
The Varsity Volleyball team lost to a tough Reading team 22-25, 16-25, 25-23, 19-25. Georgia Weeks led our offense and had 22 kills, 12 digs and was 10/11 serving with 1 ace. Julia Riske has 26 setting assists, 3 kills, 1 block, and 18/19 serving 1 ace. Jacey Hutchins had 3 kills, 2 blocks, 14 digs and was 17/17 serving. Karlee Gamet had 3 kills, 33 digs, and was 13/14 serving. Rylee Weeks was 11/12 serving with 1 ace. She also had 2 blocks, 14 digs and a kill. Kayla Miller was 12/12 serving with 1 ace and 10 digs. The Lady Jackets finished the season in 3rd place heading into the League tournament on Saturday with a 5-2 record.
Attention 3rd-5th grade Concord students. We will be hosting our second of 3 flag football events on Saturday October 24th, at gottschalk park. All participants will get football technique instruction in all positions on offense and defense followed by a FUN flag football game. We hope all of you can make it. You must bring your own water and wear a mask to participate. If you feel sick at all or have any symptoms do not come!! You should have gotten a letter from the school about these events. The event on the 24th will be at Gottschalk Park.
On Monday, October 26th, we will honor our senior fall athletes & parents in cross country, sideline cheerleading, and football. The game will begin at 6:30 pm. The cross country and sideline cheer athletes will be recognized about 6:15 pm (line-up at 6:00 pm). The football seniors will be honored after the 1st quarter. We will also recognize our senior homecoming court at halftime. Parents, athletes, and the homecoming court will need to line-up at the north end of the football field.
The Varsity Volleyball team defeated Jonesville 25-16, 25-22, 24-26, 25-23. The Lady Jackets played tough defense tonight. Karlee Gamet had 34 digs, 7 kills and was 15/16 serving. Rylee Weeks has a great night at the service line- serving an aggressive 25/26 with 4 aces. Rylee also had 16 digs and 2 assists. Georgia Weeks had 20 kills, 17 digs and was 15/17 serving with 1 ace. Jacey Hutchins and Anna Burrow played strong in the middle, Anna had 5 kills, Jacey had 7 kills, 14 digs and was 10/11 serving. Julia Riske had 35 setting assists, 13 digs and was 13/14 serving with 1 ace. The Lady Jackets are now 5-1 in the conference and 13-5 overall. Senior Night is Thursday - game time 6:00! We play 1st place Reading who is 6-0 in the conference.
MS Boys Basketball Announcement:
Middle School Boys Basketball will begin next Monday, October 26th for all 6-8th graders interested in 7th/8th boys basketball. The practices will be Monday-Friday from 3:00-5:00 pm. We anticipate that our numbers may be low, so we are including 6th graders. Please make sure you have a sports physical on file with the athletic department. If you had a physical last year, make sure you have the health questionnaire on file with the athletic department. No physical, no practice, no exceptions!
The JV football team ventured into hostile territory to take on the Bangor Vikings. The young men played hard and came out on top with a great team win!! 55-16.
It finally all came together for the 7th grade volleyball team, going undefeated at the Springport Tri-meet. They beat Jonesville in a thrilling 3 sets (24-26, 25-21, 19-17) and then went on to defeat Springport (25-13, 25-17, 15-9). Marissa Mandrelle served aggressively and had 26 aces. Bradie Lehman came in to serve in the 3rd set of the Jonesville match and brought us back from a big deficit. She had 9 aces for the day. Jordyan Metcalf and 10 aces for the day, Emma Burbo had 4 aces, Cece Barrett added 3 aces, and Bella Coopernoll, Gabby Herzberg, and Lilie Vandenburgh each had 1 ace. Macy Sinden played libero and made some great passes. Collectively, the team had 5 kills for the day. Way to finish strong, Lady Jackets!!!
Outstanding performances by the Middle School Cross Country teams on Friday at Sturgis. Personal best times, 7 medallists and an individual champion marked the day. The boys team finished 5th as a team and three runners earned medals. Manix Furqueon placed 8th, Connor Stevens 16th and Alex Sharp 23rd. All three runners ran PRs. Also setting Prs were Maddox Hutchinson in 33rd place and broke the 14 minute barrier for the first time. Nate Fritz finished 41st and Lleyton Bauman was 45th there were 11 teams in the race.
The girls team did not have 5 runners in the Varsity division, but did have 3 girls finish in the top 10. Ciara Barrett continued her undefeated season by winning the race in a school record time of 12 minutes and 42.5 seconds for the 3200 meter race. It was her first time under 13 minutes and it broke Samantha Saenz record of 12:59. Haley Stimer finished 8th and Caitlin Wright was 10th. Both girls set PRs and Caitlin went under 14 minutes for the first time.
In the reserve race all 4 girls had amazing PRs and Jordayn Metcalf earned a medal by placing 8th overall. Gabby Herzberg missed a medal by one place and had a 2 minute PR. Kristen Parker had a 2 minute PR and finished 48th. One of the best races of the day was run by Lucy Otto who had a 3 minute PR and finished 59th.

The JV Football 8-man game on Saturday (10/17) at Bangor High School will begin at 12:00 pm. Admission will be $5 (adult), $2 (student), and free (small children/senior citizens). Bangor has a large facility and they don't anticipate any issues with capacity at the game, so free free to attend.

The team travels to Springport for their final quad of the season on Saturday. They have improved so much!
Attention Football Parents: As many of you already know, due to injuries & ineligibilities, Concord will not be playing this week against Jonesville or next week against Reading. We are very fortunate to be able to play in an 8-man football tourney created by MHSAA for schools over the 216 enrollment playing 8-man football. We will play either Thursday, October 29th or Saturday, October 31st. The tourney consists of 6 teams...Bangor, Maple Valley, Bridgman, Bloomingdale, Vandercook Lake, and Concord. On Monday night the Cross Country teams welcomed Jonesville to our final Big 8 meet of the 2020 season. The first race of the night was the High School Boys. The result was Concord 16, Jonesville 41 to improve our season record to 7 - 0 and our 30th Big 8 Conference Championship in the past 48 seasons. Our guys swept the first four places with Jonathan Mikovits first, Joe Bulko second, Logan Barrett third, and Luke Holton fourth, in sixth was Isaac Waldron, tenth Chuckie King, eleventh Cole Thompson, twelfth Nolan Korman, fourteenth Gavin Adams and in fifteenth Jimmy Franssen. Congratulations guys on a great Big 8 season. Then in the girls race Jonesville came in to town with an undefeated record and we were ready to change that, but Jonesville rose up to our challenge and came out with a 26 to 32 victory. Remaining undefeated in Big 8 races this season was Skylar Thompson as she finished as meet champion. In third place was Haylee Rinehart and close behind in fourth was Gwen Bulko with her fastest time ever, Riley Adams was tenth, Natalie Sharp thirteenth, Nichelle Smith fifteenth, Kiara Ozuzu sixteenth, Haylie Kowalski eighteenth, and Jasmin McCabe in twenty-first. The next scheduled meet is the Pre-Regional that we will be hosting on Saturday October 24th.
The Middle School Cross Country team wrapped up their Big 8 season with victories over Jonesville last night. The girls won 14 to 22 and finished 6 and 1 in the conference to secure a second place finish in conference standings. Cece Barrett concluded another undefeated season by winning her 11th race. Haley Stimer finished 2nd, Caitlin Wright was third, Jordayn Metcalf was 8th, Gabby Herzberg 11th and Kristin Parker 12th.
The boys defeated Jonesville 16 to 20 to finish 3rd in the conference. Manix Furqueon won his second race in a row. Connor Stevens was 4th, Maddox Hutchinson 5th, Nate Fritz 6th, Lleyton Bauman 9th, Keaton Smith 11th.

The 7th grade volleyball team was defeated by Jonesville (25-20, 12-25, 11-25, 17-25, 12-15). Despite the loss, they played well and had many 3-contact plays. 6th grader, Bradie Lehman, stepped in to play on the 7th grade team because we were short players. She led the team in aces with 11. Marissa Mandrelle added 6 aces, Emma Burbo had 2 aces, and Bella Coopernoll and Lilie Vandenburgh each contributed an ace. Emma Burbo led the team in kills with 7 and Macy Sinden added 3 kills. Keep working hard and improving!

Leaders for the day were Georgia Weeks with 29 kills, 36 digs and was 23/25 with 3 aces. Anna Burrow had 13 kills and a block. Jacey Hutchins had 8 kills, 2 blocks and 26/28 serving with 3 aces. Karlee Gamet had 13 kills, 55 digs and was 32/34 serving with 2 aces. Julia Riske had 60 setting assists, 5 kills, and was 23/23 serving with 2 aces. Kayla Miller was 14/16 serving with 2 aces. Jayden Householder had 3 kills. Rylee Weeks had 3 kills, 30 digs, and was 11/12 serving. The Lady Jackets are now 11-4 on the season. They travel to Homer on Tuesday for their next league match.
Another tough loss for the jackets! On a good note we have raised over 1800$ and counting for the pink jug project, to help the fight against cancer! That’s a win in our book. I love my players and this community!
