The girl's and boy's cross country teams had a great showing at the Springport Invitational. Both teams placed 2nd in their division and all 12 runners earned medals. The girls placed 2nd behind Manchester and were lead by Cece Barrett who was 2nd overall. Riley Adams ran a season's best time in 7th place. Caitlin Wright was 13th in a season's best time. Julia Stevens was 16th, Maria Stevens was 18th in an all time PR time and Paige Morris was 23rd in an all time PR The boys were also wnd to the Dutchmen of Manchester. Cole Bates lead the way in 5th place with a season's best time. Isaac Waldron was 7th. Maddox Hutchinson was 13th, Lleyton Bauman 14th in an all time PR. Connor Stevens was 16th in an all time PR. Ashton Easterwood also had an all time PR in placing 26th. Great job Jackets on your second place finishes and everyone earning a medal

The Varsity volleyball team played down in the Blissfield quad against some tough competition which included host Blissfield Lenawee Christian, and Sand Creek.The girls went 0-3 on the day-but they improved with every set. Leaders for the day were Layla Hellard serving 21/22 with 4 aces and 14 assists. Iyla Weeks was 10/12 serving with 2 aces, 9 kills, and 10 digs. Emma Burbo was 8/10 with 2 aces, 6 kills, and 10 digs. Autumn Cornell was 17/17 serving, 5 kills and 4 digs. Sam Kessman was 10/12 with 3 kills. Rylee Sinden was 10/12 serving with 1 ace. Zoe Schultz had 4 digs. The Lady Jackets will head into conference play after the Labor Day break.

With no team scores from Pittsford, we can report that the girls Cross Country team placed 3rd at the Pittsford invite. Cece Barrett lead the way with a 2nd place finish. Riley Adams also medalled by placing 9th overall. Julia Stevens, Caitlin Wright, Maria Stevens and Paige Morris rounded out the team and all had fine races. The boy's placed 4th overall a d had 3 medalists in Adair Artis, Isaac Waldron and Cole Bates. Maddox Hutchinson, Lleyton Bauman, Connor Stevens and Ashton Easterwood rounded out the top 7. The Cross Country team will be back in action next Wednesday at Home in the Concord Invitational.

Rylee Sinden was 6/8 serving. Madisyn Barrett had 2 kills and 1 block and Savanna Payne had 2 assists and 1 kill. This is a very young team and they are learning every match. The Lady Jackets are 1-5.

Below are the start dates and times for middle school sports teams. This is for any 6-8th grade students interested in participating. MS Football--Thursday, August 25th from 3:00-5:00 pm. There will be a parent meeting on Wednesday, August 24th at 6:00 pm in the MS gym. MS Cheerleading--Friday, August 26th from 3:00-4:00 pm in Ms. Field's HS classroom. MS Volleyball--Thursday, August 25th from 3:00-4:30 in the MS gym. MS Cross Country--Thursday, August 25th from 3:00-4:30. Meet at the tree near the baseball field. The Concord Varsity volleyball team opened their season at the Battle Creek St. Phil tournament. We were short handed-and didn’t have any wins - but the girls improved with every set they played today. Our final match against Portland St. Pat we lost 21-25, 16-25. Our team stats for the day were Iyla Weeks with 21 kills, 10 digs and a block. Layla Hellard 35 assists, 5 kills, 16 digs and was 19/21 serving with 2 aces. Sam Kessman had 10 kills and 6 digs. Emma Burbo had 4 kills, 12 digs, and was 19/21 serving with 2 aces. Maddi Biszalik was 19/22 serving with 3 aces and 9 digs. Zoe Schultz was 7/8 serving with 1 ace and 6 digs. Savanna Payne had 3 kills and Caitlyn Inman had a block. We are a young team and it was exciting to watch them improve all day!

Practice will begin for middle school football for all 7th & 8th graders on Thursday, August 25th from 3:00-5:00 pm. 6th graders are also invited to attend. 6th graders are not guaranteed to play in any games or participate in any drill deemed unsafe by the coach. Also, the 6th-grade parents must sign a consent waiver and release from liability form. We will have a football meeting on Wednesday, August 24th at 6:00 pm in the middle school gymnasium that all football parents need to attend. The meeting is mandatory for all 6th-grade parents. Flag football will continue to be offered for all students in grade 3-6th. That information will come at a later date. Lastly...make sure all student-athletes have an updated physical dated after April 15, 2022.
