This morning we tried to live stream announcements for the first time, and there were some kinks. Some people had issues viewing it, we did not get the announcements recorded, etc. We are going to try again tomorrow morning at 8 am to live stream the announcements. We appreciate your patience as we try new things to keep everyone involved and up to date. Below you will find: viewing tips, a link to tomorrow's live stream, a static copy of the announcements (which we hope to link a recording of the stream to), and a sheet on the Yellow Jacket Trait of the Week. This week's trait is Be Connected to Other Yellow Jackets #ONEHIVE. Parents can nominate their students for Yellow Jacket of the Week by sending me an email on Thursday. There is more information in the announcements. As always - keep working on the Work from Home Challenges, reaching out to your teachers, and send us pictures!! We love the community we are building even though we are apart. Tips for Viewing: If you click the link from Facebook or your device - your student will need to log into their Google account to view, but you can view once they log in. If you click the link from a device that is logged into a student Google Classroom account it should open automatically. Keep working on your Work from Home Challenges. We have gotten a ton a great pictures and we love it! Keep sending them and working hard. We are very proud of all of you. Today's Work from Home Challenge Video for March 18th was done by Mr. Arbuckle. Also, I have included a Google Doc that explains how parents can access Google Classroom. Dear Parents and/or Guardians, We appreciate all of your support and understanding as we work through this very fluid situation. All communication about student trips, events, practices, and district available resources - including food service- will be sent from the superintendent’s office. The K-8 office will be sending information out about how to continue your child’s learning while we are on break. All teachers sent home and explained resources, notes and/or packets on how to continue student learning during the break. To help promote participation in learning during the break, both the middle and elementary school have a Work from Home Challenge. The challenge is full of activities the students may complete throughout the course of the next two weeks. Paper copies were sent with the students today. I have attached both challenge sheets for your reference. The sheets contain a complete set of directions for the challenge. If you have any questions on the challenge, please email myself or Mike Arbuckle. We will continue with March is Reading Month and One School One Book activities according to the calendar. The most important thing you can do while we are out is read with your child. Mr. Arbuckle and I will be posting videos of a variety of books being read aloud on our website daily, so please check the live feed for that information. Further, all K-8 students can continue practicing reading skills in CORE 5 (K-5) or PowerUp (6-8) as well as practicing math skills in Imagine Math (3-8). Along with these online learning resources, we will be sending other free online learning resources throughout the course of our time off. Today was the end of the third quarter. 3-8 grades will be posted as final in PowerSchool by Thursday, March 19th. Report cards will be put in the mail for all K-8 students as long as they have no outstanding fines. If you have any questions, or need any help please let us know. Good morning. This is Mr. Funston, Superintendent of Concord Schools. As many of you have heard, Governor Whitmer made an announcement late last night closing schools beginning Monday and ending April 6th due to the COVID-19 Corona Virus. We DO have school today. We will learn more information this morning and I will send out another communication after lunch today with more details.
